Custom Ergonomic Wireless Split Keyboard

Motivation/Problem:

A repetitive stress injury on my shoulder and ribs prompted me to think more about the ergonomics of my desk setup. One of the main points of pain came from typing with my shoulders turned in as you do on a standard keyboard for multiple hours a day.

Solution:

Design a custom ergonomic wireless split keyboard that can be set at shoulder width to allow the shoulders to sit in a more natural position and reduce muscle strain and pain.

Methods:

· Used Ergogen- a javascript based web program used to design custom positions for keys on keyboard.

· Exported the custom design of the keys to KiCad to develop a PCB for the components of the keyboard (keys, battery, power button).

· Soldered the components to the manufactured PCB acquired from a custom electronics manufacturer.

· Designed a custom case in Fusion360 for the PCB.

Outcome:

Successfully designed a wireless split keyboard custom to my specific needs.
